ENTRANCE ANTIPHON:

Give peace, O Lord, to those who wait for you,

that your prophets be found true.

Hear the prayers of your servant, and of your people Israel.

FIRST READING: Isaiah 50:5-9.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: Psalm 116.

RESPONSE: I will walk in the presence of the Lord in the land of the living.

1. I love the Lord, for he has heard

my voice, my appeal;

for he has turned his ear

to me whenever I call. ℟

2. They surrounded me, the snares of death;

the anguish of the grave has found me;

anguish and sorrow I found.

I called on the name of the Lord:

‘Deliver my soul, O Lord!’ ℟

3. How gracious is the Lord, and just;

our God has compassion.

The Lord protects the simple;

I was brought low, and he saved me. ℟

4. He has kept my soul from death,

my eyes from tears,

and my feet from stumbling.

I will walk in the presence of the Lord

in the land of the living. ℟

SECOND READING: James 2:14-18.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION:

Alleluia, alleluia!

Far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,

by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Alleluia.

GOSPEL: Mark 8:27-35.

COMMUNION ANTIPHON:

How precious is your mercy, O God!

The children of men seek shelter

in the shadow of your wings.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER:

My Jesus,

I believe that you are present

in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You in my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there

and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.
